TIPS WHEN PREPARING A UI/UX DESIGN INTERVIEW

Assalamualaikum to my blog reader. So today i would like to share some tips how to preparing a ui/ux design interview that i've read on twitter.

Here are some tips:

1.First things first, your experience level. If you're a beginner and you don't have much experience under your belt, what i'd look out for is your portfolio and the kind of designs you create there. I'd also advise that whatever is on your portfolio should be very best, remove any design that you feel is below standard. If possible, ask an experienced designer to help review your portfolio.

2.Revise the basics of UX.Sometimes we might have done lots of projects that we overlook some concepts used in design. It's important that during interview, you explain stuffs using keywords, related terms and phrases. This leaves the impression that you have a good command over UX design concepts.

3.Always be prepared with your portfolio and your UX processes. It's important that this is ready prior to the call. When presenting your work, ensure you discuss the process you took to arrive at each design.Start with the idea and explain your process of converting that ideas into prototypes and how you got client's feedback.

4.Always think aloud. This helps the inteviewer see your approach in problem solving.Don't forget to use this approach especially when you're solving a design problem during an interview.

Here are some questions that may pop up :

1.How would you handle a situation when you're told to do something you disagreed with?

You need to understand how to answer this question because most of the times, you'll be in situations where you disagree with an idea od the clients or stakeholders. You must be ready to back it up with data and ask smart questions.

2.Relate some of the challenges UX designers face and how you'll go about solving at least one of the challenges. You need to understand that as a user advocate you might sometimes, find it quite challenging justifying your solution to people in your team that are in different fields and disciplines.A good designer always have a way of emphasizing the highest ROI.

3.Then something light could be,why did you decide to take a career in UI/UX design.Take care answer this question as honestly as possible as this is a chance for the interviewer to see how passionate you are as a designer. Also keep your story as relevant as possible.

Bonus : To ease the tension, I'd usually ask,why is your 'religion' ? Figma,Adobe,Sketch? You might also add why you love using the tool in the end they're all tools.
